Even though I may be asking for ideas for a collar for this, I'm gonna post this here as it's mostly about the tag. :3
So yeah anyway. A while back I ordered a custom tag from our very own Noira, she offers them in her store here:
http://betweenplaces.spiderforest.com/store.php
Made with a mix of patterned fabric, excerpts from old texts and watch gears, then layered up with resin, it's a fantastically pretty piece, tasteful and absolutely gorgeous! I've been given permission to share the photos I took here.
and then being modelled by my (new-style) Tails plush:
They're super-pretty (even though I currently have a sweet phone camera, my photos don't do them justice), and if steampunk-y stuff is what any of you are into, you should totally order one. I think mine cost $20 including shipping...? For the work that's gone into it, I honestly think it's worth much more!
So, yeah. Now I just need (want? XD ) to design a nice 0.5" collar to go with it! *plot plot plot*
Has anyone here ever made/commissioned a custom tag before? As in, any special designs, additions, and etcetera. Now that I've started this thread, I'm really curious. :3 |

They're actually the same tag, it's just double-sided :3 But very worthwhile! |

Aw, I missed your raving about how gorgeous my work was! I only realized you'd posted this when someone commented on me making tags in my stud thread! Thanks for the kind words, Eeve! (Man, she even linked to my store...)
I snuck your pictures into my store page, since I take terrible pictures... yours look so much better than mine! I've got a bunch of custom tags but my sister's the only one with a camera and she's away today, so here's the only other one I have a picture of...
I don't have pictures of the custom ones for me just yet. I was going to make a thread in the art section but this'll do too.
And thank you for your kind squee of OMG, Miss Saffron! I'm touched, really, I am. If you really must have one feel free to hit me with a PM at any time. _________________

I've got a camera now! The one I wanted was on sale so I snatched it up.
I can't show you my camera but I CAN show you more custom tags!

These are the tags you're looking for. (handwave at Conker) Thanks!
And yes, darkangel, I looooove steampunky stuff. The top one, the one that says Time on one side and Timekeeper on the other, is one of mine. The second one down with just the brown rose, that's another one of mine. I think I will also keep the one with the watch pieces in the plumbing piece... that was my first test for that style of thing, and I quite like it, I'll be making more. The one with the cutout from a card, the Ace of Spades, that's for my sister... it was supposed to be a transparent red but the red sort of bled. D: The one that's on the bottom, one on the right above the bottom and on the left at the bottom, is a commission for a guy who hasn't given me his address yet... The one I posted earlier, the Memory one, was another commissioned one. The rest I might put up in my Artfire... but it's so hard for me to part with my shinies. I adored Eeve's tag. But you'll note that the ones I made for me look quite steamy. <3
A FEW, Kurekitsune? Well, you're welcome to them! Thanks! I'm glad you like them!
I was kind of hesitant to post my tags here because I didn't want to come across as trying to make sales... but I think you guys definately appreciate my art form more than the other places I've showed these off. My poor ego is going to be out of control with all this tag love! _________________

Very cool, if you decide to start selling them on a site like etsy let me give you a little hint.
Alive in Wonderland sells, very well. Photo copies of the original art, antiqued with tea and done like your dictionary ones would sell well if paired with the right words. |
